for The Art of Photography Show
Opening Gala to be held April 14th at
San Diego’s Lyceum Theatre Gallery
On April 14, 2007 The Art of Photography Show, curated by Mr. Tim Wride, photographic curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, brings together a selection of 103 pieces, of more than 9867 pieces, from 37 countries. Julie Brothers' photograph Fire Lord, is one of 14 images to be honored.
Wride reflects on "amazing instances in which an image required me not only to look intently, but also to feel and think within a range that I had not broached before." The work "demands we respond not merely with our eyes, but with our hearts and minds."
The exhibition marks Julie Brothers first public step in bringing to light a cause close to her heart, Raising Malawi. This grass roots organization is set up to bring hope to an African nation where nearly 1 million children are effected by AIDS, poverty, and child labor.
